The Lady of the Wood

Allegiance: Independent

Profile: The Lady of the Wood is not so much a wizard as an elemental force. Legends about her date at least as far back as the Second Age, making her at least as long-lived as the elves -- perhaps more so, for she still appears to be a young woman.

She seems to have no permanent dwelling place, and has been encountered all over the world, anywhere there is a copse of trees. Wise woodsmen mutter a few words to propitiate her before they take up an axe.

Some say she is a goddess, but if so, her powers seem less impressive than theirs. The elves, though they respect her, claim she is not theirs, that she is instead a nature spirit, an avatar of the forests themselves.
